Kelp Benefits For Beauty!

How many times have you untangled yourself from seaweed that has washed up on shore and wrapped around
your feet? This intrusive, slimy sea life is one of the highest sources of vitamins and minerals (including 12 minerals and 60 trace elements) on the planet. Kelp, a seaweed that gets its nutrients from seawater, offers an abundant source of vitamins and minerals such as the iodine, potassium, magnesium, calcium and iron required to promote healthy hair and skin.

Kelp is valued for its naturally high iodine content, which helps the functioning of the thyroid gland (please check with your doctor is you are taking thyroid medication before consuming kelp). It is essential in the formation of thyroid hormones, which regulate the body’s energy production, promote growth and development, and help burn excess fat.

Kelp supplements are a good alternative if you do not get enough of these foods in your daily diet. Thyroid disease is related to iodine deficiency. However, in the US and most developed countries, iodine deficiency is rare; and because thyroids are extremely sensitive to iodine, you must avoid taking too much kelp in supplement form.

People who eat excessive amounts of raw cabbage or nuts (which reduce the body’s uptake of iodine) may find supplements useful if their iodine intake remains otherwise low. Deficiencies can be treated with 150 micrograms of iodine daily. Prolonged use of large amounts of iodine (6 mg or more daily) may suppress activity of the thyroid gland. A safe upper limit of iodine is 1,000 micrograms per day.

In a seaweed face mask, however, the ion can do wonders for your skin. The ion helps to draw out impurities and balance the moisture in the skin. Negatively charged ions act like magnets drawing out the impurities in your skin. And all the skin nourishing vitamins discussed earlier are present in high concentrations, including the B-complexes. Seaweed is notably high in B12, a vitamin harder to obtain in land plant food. B12 plays a role in the synthesis of those important nucleic acids and the health of your skin and hair. Everything you need to purify, detoxify, tone, moisturize, revitalize and oxygenate your skin is present in this super algae.

It makes a great alternative to Asian style noodles, just soak your kelp, rinse, add in some veggies if you want, cover with your favorite sauce, voila.

How could I incorporate this into lotions and face masks I can sell in my buisness?

Hi Kelly,
Are you looking to incorporate this into existing products you already have or start from scratch? I would assume you hand make your products?
